Kharkiv aircraft plant plans to assemble 170 AN-140-100 in 8 years

KRASNOYARSK. Dec 6 (Interfax-AVN) - The Kharkiv State Aviation Production Enterprise is going to assemble about 170 AN-140-100 aircraft in the period from 2005-2012, enterprise's spokesman Serhiy Araslanov told reporters at the Siberian Aerospace Show 2004 held in Krasnoyarsk December 3-5.

"As of now, the enterprise has a stock of 20 orders," he said.

According to him, Kharkiv already signed contracts for delivering the aircraft to Azerbaijan and Tajikistan. "A contract with Kazakhstan is expected in the near future," he said.

He added that the enterprise started a joint venture on the AN-140-100 production in Iran, where a total of 80-100 aircraft will be assembled in the coming 4-5 years.

At the moment, there are 9 such aircraft operational.

Besides, the enterprise keeps on developing new aircraft, i.e. the AN-74TK-200 multi-role aircraft and the AN-74TK-300 airliner convertible into the VIP-class configuration.

"The AN-74TK-300 is also in demand. The first aircraft in VIP configuration is already in service with the Ukraina airline company. We are going to certify the new aircraft, and commence its production early in 2005," he added.

The Kharkiv enterprise is an association of several plants providing the whole cycle of production, marketing and maintenance in the course of the operation of the AN-140 and AN-74 series.

The AN-140-100 is a turbo-prop airliner for 52 passengers featuring a range of 7,600 km. The aircraft has a type certificate of the Aviation Registrar of the CIS Interstate Aviation Committee complying with the AP-25 requirements, harmonized with European JAR-25 and U.S. FAR-25.
