Pullout of Ukraine's contingent from Iraq to cost $11Mln - minister

KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) - It will cost $11 million to withdraw Ukraine's peacekeepers from Iraq if a decision to this effect is made, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksandr Kuzmuk said.

"At the moment, there is no political decision on withdrawing troops from Iraq. The only thing we have is a Verkhovna Rada (parliament) resolution," Kuzmuk told journalists following a ceremony in Kyiv on Monday that marked the 13th anniversary of the country's armed forces.

Ukraine will hardly be able to finance this step without external assistance, he said.

If this decision is made and agreed upon with the international coalition in Iraq, Ukraine will be able to count on the coalition's financial support, the minister said.

It will take the Ukrainian peacekeepers about five months to leave Iraq, he said.
