Peacekeeping command concerned over reservists’ training in Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone

TBILISI. Dec 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The command of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone has declared its concern with the training of reservists in its area of responsibility.

Major General Marat Kulakhmetov, commander of the forces, has sent an appeal to the co-chairmen of the Joint Control Commission, declaring concern with the escalation of reservists' military training by Georgia in the localities of Dzevera and Akhalsopeli.

"The localities are in the conflict zone, and the training in them is underway without any coordination with the Joint Peacekeeping Forces HQ," Kulakhmetov was quoted as saying by a source in the HQ.

Observers of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces and OSCE representatives were denied access to the training area, the commander said.
