KYIV. Dec 7 (Interfax-AVN) - A serviceman of the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent in Sierra Leone died while accomplishing a service mission on Monday, the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"The tragedy occurred 110km from the Ukrainian peacekeepers' base in the town of Hastings, when a tanker was transporting diesel fuel for the peacekeeping contingent from Ghana. While moving on a complicated road section damaged by heavy rains, the vehicle overturned," the press service said.
Senior Ensign Anatoliy Degtyar, an armor driving instructor, was killed in the accident. He was serving his second term in Sierra Leone. Degtyar had a wife and two children.
