GROZNY. Dec 8 (Interfax-AVN) - An improvised explosive device has been discovered in the Chechen village of Shali, district administration chief Akhmed Gutayev told Interfax on Wednesday.
Chechen law enforcement officials "found an improvised explosive device made from a 122mm shell under the bridge across the Bass River. The bomb was blown up," Gutayev said.
A group of masked gunmen wearing camouflage uniforms attacked an administration official from the village of Kharsenoi in the Shatoi district on Wednesday night, stealing a large sum of money, two cell-phones and her jewelry, sources in the Shatoi district administration told Interfax.
Several women have been attacked in Grozny's Zavodskoi district over the past 24 hours, the Combined Federal Forces' press center told Interfax. Money and jewelry were stolen in each case.
Composite sketches of the assailants have already been compiled and a search operation is underway.
