Leningrad military district sappers defuse about 50 explosive devices in November

ST.PETERSBURG. Dec 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Sappers of the Leningrad military district defused about 50 explosive devices of WWII times in November, Colonel Yury Klenov, chief of the district's press service, said on Thursday.

"The mobile mine-clearance team had to satisfy 23 requests in November. Artillery shells, mortar shells and grenades are among the 47 explosive devices taken away and detonated at testing grounds," Klenov told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The team comprises the best specialists of the engineer force, he said.

The St. Petersburg authorities provide substantial material aid to the sappers and equip them with everything they need for routine work, Klenov noted.
