Arms cache found in Chechnya

KHANKALA. Dec 9 (Interfax-AVN) - A large arms cache was found on the outskirts of Samashki in Chechnya's Achkhoi-Martan district, the Russian Interior Ministry's provisional press center in the North Caucasus said on Thursday.

The cache contained five Kalashnikov assault rifles, a Kalashnikov machine-gun, a home-made grenade launcher, hand grenades, rounds for grenade launchers of various makes, a large number of cartridges, four sets of camouflaged uniform and two Kenwood radios, the press center told Interfax-Military News Agency.

A resident of Grozny, born in 1977, gave up a Kalashnikov assault rifle with a magazine and cartridges to the police on Wednesday, the press center said.
