TBILISI. Dec 9 (Interfax-AVN) - The chiefs of Georgian and Azerbaijani border services are discussing simplification of customs and border procedures, a source in the Georgian State Border Guard Department told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.
"Talks between Major General Badri Bitsadze, chairman of the Georgian Interior Ministry's Border Guard Department, and the chief of the Azerbaijani border guard service, start in Baku today. The parties will discuss streamlining of border and customs procedures," the source said.
Bitsadze will round up his visit to Baku on Saturday, he said.
"Lieutenant General Elchin Guliyev, the head of the Azerbaijani Border Guard Service, is expected to make a return visit in early 2005. The date will be specified during the current talks," the source noted.
According to him, the date for a session of the joint intergovernmental commission on border delimitation will also be set soon. The session is expected to take place in Tbilisi next week.
