DUSHANBE. Dec 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian and Tajik border services officials signed a document on the transfer of three Russian border detachments to Tajikistan in Dushanbe on Thursday evening.
The document on the transfer to the Tajik side of three Russian border stations on the Pamir section of the border was signed by first deputy head of the Russian border service Vladimir Pronichev and chairman of the Tajik government committee for the protection of state border Abdurakhmon Azimov.
"A border stretch 881 km long has been handed over to Tajik border guards along with property and equipment worth a total of 230 million rubles ($8.2 million)," the committee's chief-of-staff Nuralisho Nazarov said after the signing ceremony.
He said that "Russian border guards have transferred all necessary property to the Tajik side".
Three Russian advisers will remain in each of the three border detachments transferred to Tajikistan, Nazarov said.
