Abkhaz Armed Forces top brass to attend training session

MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax-AVN) - A planned mobilization training session of the Abkhaz Armed Forces top brass is scheduled for December 20-24, Major General Anatoly Zaitsev, Abkhaz deputy defense minister, said on Tuesday.

"The training session involving 120 officers will be a preparatory stage for the winter period of instruction," Zaitsev told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The session was to begin yet on Monday, but it had to be postponed due to the domestic political situation in the self-proclaimed republic, Zaitsev said.

"Exercises in all types of combat activity will take place in the session's framework. As to shooting practices, they will be held at training grounds outside the area of responsibility of the CIS Collective Peacekeeping Forces," he stressed.

The Abkhaz Defense Ministry will sum up the session's results on December 24.
