FSB curbs over 600 attempted break-ins into state information resources

MOSCOW. Dec 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Federal Security Service has curbed over 600,000 attempts to break into the state authorities' information resources this year, said FSB Director Nikolai Patrushev.

"This number includes over 69,000 attempts to break into the president's official website," Patrushev told the editors of the leading Russian media outlets on Wednesday.

"Security and other law enforcement agencies have started 151 criminal cases on charges of violating computer security. Twenty people have been convicted," Patrushev said.

He announced that the FSB has a center for monitoring the security of official information resources which helps prevent computer hackers' attacks.
