MOSCOW. Dec 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia expects to receive about $5.6 billion from arms and military hardware exports in 2004, Federal Military-Technical Cooperation Service chief Mikhail Dmitriyev told a Wednesday award ceremony in Moscow.
"This year we are posting approximately the same level as last year at $5.6 to $5.7 billion. Foreign currency receipts will be around $5.5 billion," he said. Arms trader Rosoboronexport is responsible for over 90% of the arms exports, he said.
Other Russian exporters also have an impressive potential, primarily exporters of components and maintenance services for weapons sold earlier, he said.
There are reserves for building up export volumes, Dmitriyev said. "Russia's niche on the arms market is actually much greater," he said.
