KYIV. 28 Dec (Interfax-AVN) - A huge bomb was defused by Ukrainian pioneers in the Iraqi town of Huseiba in the Wasit province, an official of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's press service told Interfax-Military News Agency Tuesday.
"Ukrainian servicemen of the multinational coalition forces held a joint operation with local law enforcement detachments on December 27 following the intelligence obtained on alleged appearance of extremists in the town of Huseiba," he said.
He added that they found and defused a huge bomb, ready for blasting, that was made of a 250-kg aerial bomb and two electric detonators. Also, a cache with weapons was discovered in one of the houses of the township. It held a hunting gun, an SKS carbine, about 100 rounds of different caliber, 36 meters of blasting fuse and a battery required for blasting the bomb.
Also, an Iranian was apprehended during the special operation in Huseiba, and handed over to law enforcement department of Al Suwayra for checking whether he is a terrorist.
The press service informs that the operation was carried out by detachments of the 72nd detached mechanized battalion, an HQ company of the 7th detached mechanized brigade and some police units of the Wasit province.
