NAZRAN. Dec 29 (Interfax-South) - Police units from the republic of Ingushetia's Nazran district and Russian Interior Ministry mobile units have clashed with an unidentified group of gunmen in the village of Surkhakhi, a source in the Nazran district's police department told Interfax.
"A preliminary report indicates that this shootout started at around 7:50 a.m. Moscow time (0450 GMT) on Wednesday," the source said.
Extra units and armored vehicles have been sent to the scene of the clash, the press service of the Federal Security Service's branch for Ingushetia told Interfax.
An unconfirmed report suggests that one mobile unit serviceman has been killed and one policeman has been injured.
There has been no word on casualties among the armed group's members yet.
