Kharkiv aircraft plant increases output by 23% in 2004

MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Kharkiv Aircraft Industrial Enterprise has increased its output by 23% in 2004, the enterprise's Public Relations Department told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

"The production output has increased up to 123% y-o-y 2003, while the exports have increased 2.5-fold. The aircraft plant has secured a considerable number of contracts on manufacturing AN-140-100 and AN-74T-200A aircraft," the department said.

According to it, the contracts portfolio comprises pre-contract agreements on delivering 18 AN-140-100 aircraft to Kazakhstan. The enterprise has also signed a contract with Tajik TOJ-Airlines on delivering one aircraft of the same type, with a possibility of expanding the contract to include two aircraft.

The aircraft plant completed the assembly of the second AN-74TK-300VP in December, with the aircraft to become operational in early 2005.

According to the department, the new AN-74T-200A version with the digital semi-transparent cockpit will allow the plant to considerably boost sales volumes in the light military transport aircraft market. Under existing contracts, the plant is to manufacture three AN-74T-200A aircraft for an Egyptian customer and two AN-74TK-200S medevac aircraft for Libya in 2005.

The gross profits of the aircraft plant have increased almost three-fold (276%), exports have increased more than two-fold (239%), and sales volumes have totaled 184% y-o-y 2000.
