An IL-76 Candid transport will take off from Moscow on Thursday to deliver aid to Sri Lanka's capital of Colombo, Viktor Beltsov, an adviser to the emergency situations minister, told Interfax.
"This plane will bring tents, water purification equipment, drinking water supplies and other cargoes to Sri Lanka," Beltsov said.
A ministry IL-62M Classic passenger plane will take off from Yekaterinburg on the same day to airlift Russian tourists out of Bangkok, he said. "It is planned to evacuate 150 to 200 Russian tourists from Thailand," the adviser said.
Emergency Situations Ministry rescue teams, which arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday, have relocated to the village of Trinkomali in the country's northeast, he said. "They will carry out search and rescue operations in this new area," Beltsov said.
