Ukrainian, U.S. military to discuss interoperability of quick-response forces

KYIV. Jan 24 (Interfax-AVN) - A delegation of the U.S. Army Europe will make a working visit to Kyiv from Monday to Friday to discuss ways to achieve inter-operability of the Ukrainian Unified Quick Response Forces and NATO units, the Ukrainian defense minister's press service reported.

The delegation will be headed by Patrick O. Carpenter, head of the International Affairs Department in the HQ of the U.S. Army Europe, the report reads.

While staying in Ukraine, the U.S. military will visit the stationing area of the 95th detached airmobile brigade in Zhytomyr and the 72nd detached mechanized brigade in Bila Tserkva. They will study the units' technical facilities and determine their elements, in particular, communication assets, that require replacement or adjustment to NATO standards.

According to the press service, the U.S. party is ready to provide financial aid to implement these measures in the framework of a U.S. government program to this effect.
