Blast reported at public transport stop in Voronezh

VORONEZH. Jan 26 (Interfax-AVN) - An explosive device planted in a garbage bin at a public transport stop in Voronezh went off early on Wednesday, smashing the windows in a nearby kiosk, sources in the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax.

Nobody was injured by the blast, the sources said.

People working in the kiosk said that there were some 20 people at the stop, but they left shortly before the explosion.

The public transport stop was partially damaged by the blast, an Interfax correspondent reported.

A Federal Security Service group and Emergency Situations Ministry rescue teams are working at the scene. The road has been closed to traffic.

Three similar explosions occurred at public transport stops in Voronezh on February 19, July 19 and July 26, 2004. Criminal cases on terrorism charges were opened.
