STAVROPOL. Jan 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Two foreigners who had been banned from entering Russia were detected on the border section controlled by the North Caucasus regional border guard directorate on Wednesday, the directorate's press service reported.
"A total of 60 people were denied border passage and about 20 fined for administrative violations in the past 24 hours. Two persons banned from entering Russia were detected," the report reads.
According to the press service, North Caucasian border guards detained over 1,160 border trespassers and about 1,700 violators of border crossing rules in 2004. They imposed fines totaling 5.8 million rubles ($207,250) for various violations. Together with Russian customs officers, they seized contraband worth $1.79 million.
