MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko believes that Russia will occupy a worthy place in international aircraft markets.
"The Russian aircraft industry has all chances of making a comeback to the global aircraft market, and not only in sectors where it still maintains its positions, namely combat planes and helicopters, but also in civil and special aircraft building," Khristenko reported to President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
He informed the president about the drafting of a development strategy for the domestic aircraft industry.
"It took six months to draft this document. This is the fourth, revised and amended version. All documents are currently being finalized. Considering the importance of the document, we want to submit it to the State Council's presidium for approval," Khristenko said.
"The new strategy stipulates a triple output increase by 2015. The civil sector alone is expected to turn out $6 billion worth of aircraft products in 2015," Khristenko said.
