MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax-AVN) - The Federation of Russian Armed Forces Trade Unions will stage a protest rally in front of the government headquarters on Wednesday to demand a salary raise for the Armed Forces' civil servants.
"The goal of the picketing and other actions being held by the federation is to make the Russian government raise salaries of the Armed Forces civil servants 1.2 times," a federation spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Decree 902, approved by the government on January 31, 2004, envisages raising the salaries of state agency employees, except for the civilian staff of the Armed Forces, he stressed.
"This contradicts the Russian Constitution (Article 37), the Russian Labor Code (Article 133) and the federal law dated December 29, 2004, and serves to increase the poverty of the Armed Forces' civilian staff," the spokesman noted.
