KOVROV, Vladimir Region. Feb 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The Kovrov-based Degtyarev plant will demonstrate its Kord heavy machinegun, the Igla portable air defense system and the Kornet-E ATGM system at the upcoming IDEX 2005 international arms show in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
"We will show the Kord heavy machinegun, developed for the NATO standard round of 12.7 mm, the Igla portable air defense system, the Kornet ATGM and other products mostly intended for exports," an official of the plant's press service told Interfax-Military News Agency Friday.
The Kord machinegun is designed to destroy unarmored or slightly armored vehicles and enemy personnel at ranges up to 2,000 m, as well as low-flying aerial targets at ranges up to 1,500 m. Unlike its rivals, Kord is reliable in adverse climates, easy in maintenance, and unique in terms of its capability to conduct sustained fire without additional cooling of the barrel, although with high accuracy.
The Kornet-E ATMG system provokes interest of foreign customers owing to its small size and weight, which allow it to be operated both dismounted and on a wide range of wheeled or tracked chassis.
The press service also informs that the exposition of the enterprise will also include the 1T215M topographical and navigational system that will be included into the equipment of fire control vehicles. It is intended to detect coordinates of the target and display it on a topographic map. Also, the company will show the RGS-50M grenade-launching system designed to inflict psychological impact on hijackers and temporarily render them ineffective. In addition to that, it will demonstrate a variety of other air defense systems and target designation radars.
IDEX 2005 will be held in Abu Dhabi February 12-17, involving 825 companies from 45 countries.
