Russian Duma to consider implementation of chemical disarmament program

MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The State Duma defense committee has proposed considering implementation of the federal purpose-oriented program of chemical weapons destruction in Russia at the "government hour" in the lower house of parliament.

"A special resolution of the State Duma will be drafted to sum up results of the "government hour"," Major General Nikolai Bezborodov, member of the defense committee and the State Chemical Disarmament Commission, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

In addition, the defense committee suggests petitioning the government to raise additional funds for the federal program, he said.

The additional funds are needed for capital construction at the chemical weapons destruction facilities in the town of Kambarka in Russia's internal republic of Udmurtia and in the village of Maradykovsky in the Kirov region, Bezborodov noted.

According to him, head of the Federal Industry Agency Boris Alyoshin will be invited to report to the Duma session on this issue.
