Iraqi police start training at Ukrainian camps

KYIV. Feb 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Iraqi police started training at the Ukrainian Delta camp, an official of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry press service told Interfax-Military News Agency Monday.

"Combat training and law enforcement specialists of the Ukrainian 7th detached mechanized brigade have developed a specialized program to effectively train 107 Iraqi policemen in short time. The program includes the organization of service at checkpoints and the issues of providing security of buildings and when on patrolling missions," he said.

According to him, Ukrainian instructors qualify Iraqi cadets in demining, first aid and communications, apart from purely police missions. Firing, physical training and hand-to-hand fight are also among the priority subjects.

The press service informs that another group of Iraqi policemen is undergoing training at the Zulu camp of the Ukrainian 72nd detached mechanized battalion, deployed in Al Suwayra.

After the training course is complete, the policemen will stand specialized tests, the results of which will be used to make conclusions on their professionalism, the official added.
