SUKHUMI. March 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The breakaway province of Abkhazia's President Sergei Bagapsh signed a resolution on Monday appointing Yury Ashuba chairman of the State Security Service.
Ashuba, who most recently was Abkhaz Security Service deputy chairman, worked in Soviet and Russian security agencies for more than 20 years. He has a degree in law.
Ashuba's appointment comes as part of a personnel reshuffle supported by Bagapsh.
